Honestly, I have never heard anywhere in the world where there is a mid-semester break for university students.
This however comes with great joy that the University of Nigeria Nsukka has once again set a ball rolling for other Nigerian universities.

Like every other medical students who have lots of stuff to read in a very short while, I had gone to bed around 3:30 pm today for my siesta so as so be full of life and energy when I hit the classroom at night for my regular night reading(TDB). All of a sudden, I could hear from my sleep, shouts of joy, guys screaming with great delight and zest. God bless the VC! God bless the VC!! I have been given two weeks to read and cover up on my academics!!! The noise was so disturbing, so I woke up. I thought it was a dream. It was hard to believe what I heard. Two good weeks? Wow!!!
I headed to the notice board reluctantly maybe I could see any proof? Trust me, you seldom get an important information on the notice boards around the campus except for posters of church programs, student elections and burial ceremonies. I reached out to the university website and there was nothing to that effect as well. The only reliable means of getting genuine information on campus has become gossiplions.blogspot.com. So I picked up my phone to call some very important personalities at the office of the Vice Chancellor. The news was confirmed and I was astonished, and here I am delivering first hand report about the state of affairs of our very dear university.
This is to bring to the notice of all students and the entire university community that the university of Nigeria shall proceed on a two week mid-semester with immediate effect. Consequently all academic activities on the campuses have been suspended for the period. Students have been hereby directed to vacate their hostels not later than 6pm on Tuesday, 2nd June, 2016.
Just like other universities bought the idea of post UTME examinations which started here in our university, guess here is another lead for them to follow
