NFF turns to Sunday Oliseh for Super Eagles job

Nigeria are set to offer the role of national team coach to former midfielder and captain Sunday Oliseh, it has emerged.
Oliseh, 40, won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles as well as an Olympic gold medal in 1996.

He played at two World Cups in 1994 and 1998, and played at various clubs in Europe like Liege, Regianna, Cologne, Ajax, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
He retired from the national team early, after being dropped from the squad to the 2002 World Cup for disciplinary issues; with many in the Federation having vowed never to work with him again, as he is said to be difficult to persuade.
However, he has not had any top flight job in coaching, except handling Belgian third division side Vervietois between 2008 and 2009.
He is one of three former players from his generation in the national team to hold the acclaimed Uefa Pro License.
He has been working as a TV pundit and was a member of the Fifa Technical Study Group for the 2013 U17 World Cup as well as the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil.
According to the BBC, the Nigeria Football Federation has opened talks with Oliseh in order to fill the vacant position of the Super Eagles coach after Stephen Keshi was sacked on Saturday.
Both men played together for about two years – from Oliseh’s debut in 1993 till Keshi’s retirement in 1995.
Oliseh worked under Keshi during the early 2000's, when the latter was an assistant to coach Shaibu Amodu.
The Super Eagles are presently in the hands of caretaker coach Amodu and assistant coach Salisu Yusuf ahead of September’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania.
